On Tuesday 11 February, in Paris, President Ursula von der Leyen had a meeting with the Vice President of the United States of America, J.D. Vance. Following the AI Action Summit, to which both participated, President von der Leyen underlined the EU’s commitment to develop AI for the benefit of all while maintaining an open and competitive market.

President von der Leyen and Vice President Vance reaffirmed the strength of the EU-US relationship and its vital role in today’s geopolitical landscape. President von der Leyen emphasized the EU’s commitment to a just and lasting peace for Ukraine. She underscored the need for continued unity in providing unwavering support to Ukraine.

President von der Leyen and Vice President Vance discussed cooperation on shared challenges. President von der Leyen reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to a fair trade relationship, while both parties expressed their intention to prioritize economic areas of mutual interest, including energy.
